Scammers are sending emails and text messages that pretend to come from our Executive Director,Candice Stennett. These messages are fake. SCORE did not send them.
What Candice or any SCORE HQ staff will never ask you to do:
- Buy gift cards or send gift card codes
- Send money, wire funds, or make a payment
- Sign unexpected contracts or agreements through DocuSign
- Share passwords, login codes, or personal information
- Unexpected invites to events
- Handle an “urgent” request by text or personal email
What to watch for:
- Messages that create urgency or demand secrecy
- Requests that come from a personal email address or an unfamiliar phone number
- Sender names that look right but have a different email address
- Links or attachments you were not expecting
What to do:
- Do not click any links or open attachments.
- Do not reply, and do not send money or gift cards.
- Do not sign anything sent through DocuSign unless you confirm it with SCORE staff first.
- Report the message to [email protected] and include a screenshot if you can.
- Delete the text message after you report it.
- Report the email using the steps below
- If you already clicked a link or sent anything, contact us right away at [email protected]. Also change your password if you entered it anywhere.
