Volunteer Spotlights Templates [SOCi Chapters Only]

Another great way to celebrate volunteers is to spotlight and uplift them on your chapter's social media! With our customizable SOCi templates, featuring your chapter’s unique volunteers is easier than ever. Keep reading to learn how:

Spotlight Template:

View the SOCi Knowledge Base guide here OR follow these instructions:

  1. Login to SOCi at https://app.meetsoci.com/
  2. Navigate to Social > Libraries > "SCORE | Volunteer Spotlight."
  3. Select template and choose the schedule icon.
  4. Fill out the template and update the text that has the double brackets [[ ]].
  5. Remove the placeholder image and upload the photo of the featured mentor.

Email Marketing

Email can help your chapter reach existing subscribers, clients and community members who may already have an interest in supporting small businesses.

Volunteer Recruitment Template

A volunteer recruitment email template is available in Constant Contact for chapters to customize and use as part of their local recruitment efforts.

You can find this template by:

  1. Clicking the Campaigns tab
  2. Select the blue Create button in the upper right and choose Email
  3. Locate the SCORE templates tab
  4. Find and select the Volunteers Chapter Template

Consider updating the template with:

  • Your chapter’s header image or logo
  • Local volunteer opportunities
  • Chapter-specific information
  • Local mentor or volunteer photography
  • A testimonial or volunteer success story
  • A clear call to action to learn more or apply

Add Volunteer Recruitment Section to Newsletter

You don't need to dedicate an entire email to volunteer recruitment. Consider incorporating a volunteer-focused section into your regular chapter newsletter.

Ideas include:

  • A short volunteer recruitment message
  • A volunteer or mentor spotlight
  • A volunteer testimonial
  • A client success story that demonstrates the impact of mentoring
  • A brief overview of current volunteer opportunities

Regularly featuring volunteering helps keep the opportunity visible to your audience throughout the year.

Public Relations

To help spread the word about SCORE and the impactful work your volunteers provide to your local small business community, you can distribute a press release to nearby news outlets or ask your local TV and  radio stations to run SCORE's all-new public service announcements.

Press Release

Use the National Volunteer Month press release template to recognize your volunteers and the value of SCORE in your community.  Fill in the open fields in the template with your local chapter information and impact data. Then send it out to local media and stakeholders, and share it across your communications throughout the month.

See here for frequently asked questions about press releases.

Volunteer Recruitment Collateral

Printed materials can help extend your recruitment efforts beyond digital channels. Consider bringing volunteer materials to networking events, community events, speaking engagements and other local activities.

The SCORE Company Store through Office Depot has a few some volunteer recruitment collateral available for order. Some are stocked with the chapter only having to cover the shipping cost. The free stock of these items is first come, first serve. The other items are available for purchase with chapter funds.

  • Volunteer Spanish Bi-Fold Brochure - 100 for $0
  • Volunteer Bi-fold Brochure - 100 for $82.12
  • Volunteer Tri-Fold Brochure - 100 for $0
  • Pocket Folder - 25 for $0

These volunteer recruitment brochures are great to have at in-person networking events or to leave with local community partners who can share these with their members.

Make Volunteer Recruitment an Ongoing Effort

Volunteer recruitment is most effective when it is part of your chapter’s ongoing marketing strategy rather than a one-time campaign.

Look for opportunities throughout the year to:

  • Showcase the impact of your volunteers
  • Share volunteer stories and testimonials
  • Promote current volunteer opportunities
  • Include volunteer messaging in newsletters
  • Build relationships with organizations that can refer prospective volunteers
  • Use local events and community outreach to connect with experienced business professionals
